Hello from the Kangaroo Classroom!
Spring has arrived and just in time! We just finished a fun-filled learning Food unit that revolved around Eric Carle’s The Very Hungry Caterpillar. We took an opportunity to capitalize on little one’s knowledge of this beloved tale to expand on skills in literacy and mathematic concepts, as well as fine motor skills that promote writing capabilities. Kangaroos had so much fun with activities such as sorting foods by color, feeding a giant Hungry Caterpillar, and “inching” little caterpillars through fruit rings. We even used the Letter “C” to create some wonderful Carle-esque caterpillars, making connections to alphabet symbols through an art process over several days. Our upcoming Spring learning unit will take us from caterpillars right on into butterflies, flowers, and rain boots. Goodbye winter…come on kite-flying days of Spring!
